Incidentally Cambridge also have the odd one out, 17066 [T699KVX],
presumably so registered because T666KPU was deemed a 'cherished' number Since when? I've never seen that plate. Seen on 27/05/05 [as it happens, the day I spoke to you at the Cambridge Beer Festival!] Hmm, odd that as I show that vehicle having gone direct from East London to Southdown in Feb 04 and then being noted as 'Fire Damaged' by 5/05. Cambus have: 17007 17008 17009 17010 17011 17036 17037 17038 17050 17051 17052 17053 17054 17055 17056 17057 17058 17059 17076 17078 17079 All arrived mid 03 Oh, and all the 666 numbers started being withheld around A prefix time due to the sensitivity of the devils number. Then afterwards, all round hundreds and same digits (111, 222, etc.) started being withheld for future sale around H prefixes IIRC. -- Steve Fitzgerald has now left the building. You will find him in London's Docklands, E16, UK (please use the reply to address for email) |

They were all on the 88 (blue) route but one is now in the yellow unspecific livery, 17011 from memory. Oh, and all the 666 numbers started being withheld around A prefix time due to the sensitivity of the devils number. H prefixes was when the registrations sale of the century started, yes. -- Colin Rosenstiel |

Thanks Steve, I must have been mistaken, possibly after a successful beer festival is not the best time to record buses. I'm not a full-time bus spotter but having noticed ex-London Tridents in Cambridge I did jot down some fleet numbers. The registration was gleaned from a bus list website as I knew it wouldn't have been 666. Given your list it was probably 17056 I saw. Sorry! |
