![]() "Dom1234" I've removed your default email addy - there are bots that scour usenet for such valid email addies - This is the main cause of spam flooded inboxes - Use a hotmail or yahoo account for your posts to usenet wrote in message ... It's now up to the Tube bosses http://www.zoneonelondon.co.uk/ This post at 13.24. Whatever impact the RMT's strike will have won't be known until shift change at 2pm, so lets have some predictions! I say it will have NO discernable impact whatsoever. ASLEF T/ops will be on duty. So will the few drivers in RMT. So will control staff, so will the ever increasing number of *non-union* station staff. The odd station may close and as for booking offices - it;s free travel so they don't need to be open! But just maybe a branch line may have to be closed, but thats about it. An example, The Victoria line will run a full service through the night - as it always has on RMT strikes. The RMT have got it wrong yet again, and handed a victory to management. They claim to have a 5.1 ballot for strike action, but curiously they won't reveal the exact number of actual returned ballots? (Update from 1pm BBC news - *only* One Third of ballot papers returned?) The RMT membership has seriously twindled, and it can be assumed the ballot is not representative of the workforce. The staff do not agree with the strike, it will fail. The saddest part of this futile industrial action by the RMT is that I suspect we are seeing a once valid and credible trade union on it's last legs. |
