this year.

This must be one of the more weird strike threats, surely?

The trains have plenty of barely less acceptable alternatives for their
passengers provided by Southern and FCC and the Government is planning
to scrap the franchise and GatEx service RSN anyway.

So why this suicidal tactic?

Indeed.

If they do strike actually strike on carnival weekend then they'll lose
many people's sympathies. I guess that's all part of the game - they
won't actually go ahead with it, but they just threaten to strike on a
critical day (or days).

I thought the TSSA - the union threatening the First London bus strike
- were one of the more reasonable unions. That said, I don't know the
specific grievances that First London employees have.

What sympathies?

I don't expect or want anyone's sympathies, but I have not had a pay
increase (let alone a 4.5% pay increase THIS year alone!) for 8 years.
Nor am I allowed, legally, (according to H.M Attorney General and Lord
Chancellor who have threatened to bug telephones and take legal action)
to go on strike.

Marc.
