Default Unusual workings

Are there many unusual (in service) workings on the tube anymore? I
remember reading that some late night Piccadilly trains use to run part
way up the District tracks to South ken (or was it gloucester road?)
but do they still do it? Are there any usual passenger carrying
workings that anyone knows about?

There used to be Picc workings eastbound to West Kensington - reverse
back to Northfields (mainly for staff to get to Lillie Bridge depot) but
they ceased many years ago - certainly before my time ( a mere 5 years).
West Kensington is still one of our emergency reversing points to this
day though.

The only 'unusual' booked workings I know of now on the Picc are at
about 2123, Eastbound train 316 runs via the local (or also known as
the test track) from Northfields to Acton Town. It's not all that rare
a move though as it's commonly used when there are ahem problems.

For interest, there are also a number of non-passenger 'rusty rail'
moves. My favourite is Down Street sidings.

I think the first train from Rickmansworth in the morning goes direct to
Watford which is a route not shown on the tube map.

There's a surprising number of these: see
http://www.avoe05.dsl.pipex.com/2006.htm under the heading ENGLAND -
SOUTH EAST (NORTH). (about 2/5 the way down the page)

Its in the Met timetable leaflets, available from appropriate stations.
(Only the Met has a full published timetable booklet - because of the many
branches and non-stop trains IIRC)
