I can think of four: Edgware Road, TCR and the south side of
Marylebone and Euston Roads.

Good guess, but maps suggest the answer is one, TCR.

Some addresses on the east side of the southern reaches
of Edgware Road are in W1 (between Marble Arch and Old
Marylebone Road, and maybe a little further).

The same goes for Euston Road:

....and Marylebone Road:

And just like all the above, only one side of TCR is in
W1...

The question my late grandfather used to ask was how to get (by road)
from Mansion House to Buckingham Palace without going along a street.

There are so many websites that refer to it as "Lake Windermere" that I
must have got confused. Apologies, but I'm not very good at pedantry.

uk.railway and utl might not be the best place for you, then!

The fact that we have been discussing the Lake District clearly
escaped your notice. Pay attention, lad!

Pay attention yourself, sonny. There is no such thing as "Lake
Windermere" in the Lake District, though there are five of them
elsewhere, hence my query.

mere = lake

We have River River in the south (two of them).

Four, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Avon
Not to mention one in Wales and three in Scotland.

As a Gog Trog (North Welshman) 'Mount Snowdon', as it's often referred to
in the meeja, always makes my blood boil.

More pedantic trivia for you:
How many ropes on a ship?

There are two River Avons, One in Hampshire/Wiltshire, one in Warwickshire

Or River Cam?

I've only ever heard it called 'The Cam' possibly local useage.
