You wouldn't need to get it from/to a station, but from/to the boundary
of Z4.

But in an earlier post the advice was:

And that has certainly been the way it has worked on SE Trains - coming in to London from Headcorn I got a return to/from Elmstead Woods, going out of London I got a return to Headcorn from/to BZn4...

Which takes me back to my original (not quite clear) question - which station would I need a ticket for in order to get me into Z4 if coming down from Milton Keynes?

If coming *from* Milton Keynes, you would need a ticket to the first
station in Z4.
If going *to* Milton Keynes, you would need a ticket from 'boundary Z4'.

Yes, I know. And that is precisely what I tried to clarify in the post you have just responded to without actually answering my question. So, can someone please tell me the first station inside Z4 or perhaps I should just go back to my corner now...

To save AndreaC asking a THIRD time, would anyone like to say what
station this is? :-)

http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/pdfdocs/lon_con.pdf seems to say Kenton.

It must be Kenton, but no trains from Milton Keynes would ever stop
there. I assume the season ticket rule doesn't worry about different
types of electrification.

Sorry - I hadn;t realised that you were asking for the name of the
specific station. As others have already said, it's Kenton.
