Default Ticket advice needed - Southeastern trains

Tomorrow (Friday) I've got to travel into Waterloo East from Headcorn with Southeastern. I've got a Z1-4 travelcard on my Oyster so I wanted to know if I can just buy a paper ticket for the bit of the journey from Headcorn to the Z4 boundary and then let my Oyster pick up the rest of the journey from that point and, if so, does anyone know which station I need to buy my ticket to?

Elmstead Woods.

Doesn't the train need to stop there for that to be valid? (otherwise
buy a Headcorn-boundry Z4)

No, because a Travelcard is a season ticket and not (as you might
expect) a PTE ticket. And you can only buy tickets *from* BZn, not *to*
BZn...

(when I visit my family in Guildford and stay overnight, I can buy a
BZ2 - Guildford single on the way out, if I can be bothered to face
the queues at Waterloo ticket office, but need to buy a Guildford -
Clapham Junction ticket on the way back. Which works even on the fast
trains that avoid CJ).

Thanks a lot for the answers - I just had time to check the board before leaving this morning and it certainly worked because the woman in the ticket office didn't bat an eyelid at being asked for a ticket to Elmstead Woods even though the trains from Headcorn don't go there.

If that even. See my post about BZ2 to St Albans non-fares.

There's really nothing strange about someone asking for a ticket to a
station that isn't served by direct trains...

To add to this slightly, can anyone tell me which station I'd need to get my extension ticket to/from for a journey between Euston and Milton Keynes using my 1-4 oyster season ticket?

You wouldn't need to get it from/to a station, but from/to the boundary
of Z4.
