It was one of several extensions planned in the 1930s, delayed by WW2, and cancelled afterwards, chiefly because Green Belt legislation meant that the areas which would have been served would not be intensively developed. Other examples are the proposed Central Line extension to Denham and the SR extension from Chessington South to Leatherhead. Peter |
