Default Highbury and Islington Heat

If TfL want a solution to the heat on the tube they should just take a
long hard look at Highbury & Islington:

Victoria Line platform - like an oven (it has always seemed to me to be
the hottest line on the network for no obvious reason)
WAGN platform right next door - like a fridge.

Don't really understand how there can be such a diffrence in temperature
in such a small distance

Easy:

a) Lower usage - on average you've got one train every 10 minutes on
Great Northern Electric Monday - Friday until 20.00. No service Sats
and Suns.

This means less heat from trains and passengers

b) Length of tunnels. Highbury is not too far from Drayton Park and
Essex Road - so air is getting pushed in at this point. The Victoria
Line has ventilation shafts, but trains only join the line just north
of Seven Sisters.

Isn't the Drain (Waterloo and City) quite cool?

Rob.

I suspect it is more complicated than that, the WAGN platforms are very
damp, and the 2 are of diffrent construction

No, it's like an oven all year round. I wonder if they'll ever get round to
running longer trains on the W&C, 4 carriages is inhumane in the rush hour!

When they get around to extending the platforms.
You may have noticed the train takes the whole length!

As an aside, anyone else *not* looking forward to the 10 mins it'll
take to get out at Bank when they turn the ticket barriers on?

What makes you think it will take 10 mins?

Nowt scientific; just the fact that it takes nearly 5 sometimes
and that's before the 'blimey, a ticket barrier! Best take my
ticket out then!' types get there.
