'Up' is towards Broad Street. :-)

Sorry, that's not true at Shepherd's Bush. On the West London Line, the
western track is "down" from Clapham Junction to West London Junction,
where it joins the WCML from Euston, which of course is similarly
designated.

However, the current Silverlink Metro service to Willesden Junction (and
sometimes beyond) is "down" as far as Mitre Bridge Junction, and is then
"up" beyond there, through Willesden Junction on the North London Line,
historically in the Broad Street direction.
