Where does it have the offensive advertising? I believe James is grumpy that TfL have mentioned the only reason why anyone might choose to go to North Greenwich as part of the station's name on the map. -- John Band john at johnband dot org www.johnband.org |

Since that is part of the station's name, no. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:C...n_entrance.jpg In any case, it's not directly comparable, as "Maritime Greenwich" is not a company. |

TFL seem to have pulled the new map from their website.
I wonder what the issue is http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/colourmap.gif |

He should get over to a more recent thread and grump up about what they've done to Gillespie Road! tom -- In-jokes for out-casts |

But critically you can't prove it, which is all part of the genius of the great Mr Chapman! How he persuaded UERL to change the station's name from Gillespie Road to Arsenal is hazy - whether the reasoning for this has been lost in the mists of time, or was perhaps a little less than opaque in the first place (cough cough, splutter splutter), is up for the reader to decide ;-) Was Mr Chapman not a 'good friend' of the Chairman or UERL, Lord Ashfield ...? It would be pretty mischievous to suggest that the 1930's aren't called Golden Age for London's transport for nothing, so I won't. |

But the fundamental difference between the two cases is that Gillespie Road station was actually re-named. |
