Default Paddington Gatelines

Forgive me if there is another thread on this somewhere already - My news
reader has decided my news-box was messy and compressed/purged whatever it
felt like without asking me resulting in lots of missing stuff...

Has anyone got any info on what's going on with the new NR gates (with
respect to) the LUL gates that then reject you (Usually with a pass-back
error) - This is against a paper ticket - I'd be curious to know what's
happening to oyster (PAYG) pax.

Coming off the H&C a couple of weeks ago, couldn't get back in the main LUL
station, the LU gates gave me a pass-back error, let through by an SA.

Today, off the H&C onto the Heathrow Connect platforms - let me in all ok,
got back in the afternoon, came off the platform couldn't get back into the
LU side (Don't remember the error)

Can someone also tell me if the 'back' route off the H&C to the Heathrow
connect platforms is still open, or has it been closed off forcing everyone
'up and over'

How have the 2 cash points and Cafe Nero got stranded the wrong side of the
new gateline, and what's the score for accessing those services without a
valid travel ticket?

I had a nice chat with a LU SA on my way back and he said 'its a right
mess', and 'I don't think anyone has a clue, we just stand here all day now
letting people in' - I know there was problems when they first went in, but
I foolishly thought they had been addressed/resolved (at least in part)

I also presume the new gates are NR gates rather then FGW ones?

TIA.

The new Paddington gatelines are a pain - as are many of the obviously
bored gateline staff. On Sunday at about 8.00 pm a gang of about 5 of
them were larking around just outside the pub-bar-hut named The
Isembard and all they seemed to be going were texting on mobiles,
playing 'tag' and generally blocking the gates for folk with luggage.
I was trying to get through the gates with a load of (luckily wheeled)
luggage and 4 of them they stood in my way thinking that it was funny
to block my path.

And the gates are badly sited. In order to catch a Connect train on p.
12 - with luggage - you have to go down the gateline to The Isembard,
through the luggage gates, then all the way back up p.11 to get round
the buffers by Cafe Nero, then back along p.12 to where invariably
Connect staff block the nearest door to the Connect train.

CJB.

Well I'm back there this weekend on the HeX and next weekend on connect so I
shall see if they have fixed *anything*

I might try and gain access to Cafe Nero and the cash point thats stranded
the wrong side of the gates and see if they let me through without a ticket
or not.

Just ask to use the cash point & they let you through. Use that
regularly, just to check the access. Also the Left Luggage facility.
