The Northern Ticket Hall opens in December this year,

As soon as that? Is it timed to co-incide with the opening of the Kent
Domestics. Will all the new escalators/passageways to the tube lines be
complete as well?

It's almost as if there's a masterplan at work! I think the timing is
intended to coincide with the arrival of the Kent high-speed trains at
St. P.

Although this says 2010 (for the Northern Ticket Hall):

The official date is "February 2010" but they were asked to get it
done three months early by the DfT, which they've agreed to. But for
whatever political reason TfL's announced date is unchanged.

(see also the ELL, which opens "June 2010" but I would bet money will
be carrying passengers by the end of this year)

Incidentally, Network Rail are currently advertising for signallers at
New Cross Gate, presumably for the ELL.

Indeed the passenger bridge crossing from platforms 1 to 8 was
dismantled over Christmas, I used it every day for years, the supports
at either end are still in-place at this time. Parts of this bridge
are in cordoned off lock ups at the far end of platform 8. There was
talk that the passenger walk way exit at the top end of platform one
is to close also and passengers having to walk first around the front
of that satantion and then to the west end ticket hall before getting
access to the station. I would guess that some form of ticket barriers
will also go in and this is why this would be the only entrance.
Builders are dismantling the buildings by the top end of platform one
brick by brick. I did read something about an extra platform being
installed and would guess it would be next to platform one and why
they would close the top end side entrance there, been building there
for ages, its where the taxi used to drive down the side of platform
one. Anyone any info?

That's the Platform 0 scheme which I thought was currently under
construction, surely? I have a feeling it's changed name again, though.
The York Way access will have to go for that, surely?

Platform Y, right up against the eastern wall. The rebuilding work
will take two platforms at once out of use, so it's being built to
compensate.

Yes. There's talk of building a new footbridge along the north end of
the main shed (where there was one before), but I'm not aware of the
status of this idea. It'll have its own gateline.

There's lots of information that I haven't digested on this
campaigning blog:
http://www.kingscrossaccess.com/

Essentially the local community wants what they're calling a
'Battlebridge Crossing' to link them in to the heart of the 'hub'
which will be to the western side of King's Cross. I think this is
what you're referring to, or maybe it's not - AFAICS this wouldn't be
a bridge that would lead directly onto the platforms, it would be
public hence it wouldn't have a gateline.

There's something in that blog about Argent (the developers of KX
Central on the old goods yard) having a design of a bridge ready to
go, and also being committed (under a s106 agreement) to contribute
towards it, but only if someone else comes up with the money before
2012.

I've got some considerable sympathy for the desire for a footbridge
here to link in the neighbourhoods on the east side of the station
into all the activity on the west side.
