Incidentally, the "classic" start for an All Stations challenge

gateline or validator, risking several unresolved journeys.

We started at Upminster and walked from Watford Junction to Watford (Met).
I think we took a bus between Amersham and Chesham.

But that was in 1970.

Amersham starts tend to be the norm these days, with a Heathrow finish
for the last six successful record breakers.

The current record stands at 17 hours 12 minutes 43 seconds for 269
stations, set on the 24th of July 2008 with an Amersham start and a
Heathrow Terminal 5 finish.

Cheers,

Barry

But not including stations to Watford Junction North of Harrow and
Wealdstone. We did finish at Hounslow West (modern equivalent Heathrow).
We also used special paper tickets.
