Was good to see you all last night. It was especially good to meet Boltar at
last. Who had "fifteen year old girl" in the sweepstake?

You're an evil evil man you are

Still it was good to see you guys again. Hope Paul's feeling a bit
better today.

Shame there weren't a few more new faces though (not that I had any
problem with the existing ones you understand).

Maybe next time?

Just to keep the record straight, my daughter (the only female present, and
she will be 23 in a couple of weeks' time) gave me, after the event, her
verdict on the 'normality' or otherwise of the seven men present. It would
perhaps be unwise to go into the precise details of her assessment; suffice
it to say that LU employees came out of it quite well.

We amused ourselves for the first half-hour from 18.30 (until someone else
actually turned up) by trying to spot likely utl-ers; Liz proved better at
it than me!

At our end of the table, I failed to steer the conversation round to
contentious subjects, like whether it is incorrect to spell the word in
front of 'Pancras' out in full when it's in the name of a station, and
whether Cambridge City Council still delegates street naming to its
officers. Instead we considered less controversial matters (does
Peterborough really belong in Cambridgeshire? where is largest pub in the
country? what is the Bewdley water goat?)

We both enjoyed it, but whether I attend any future event may depend on
whether I can repeat the trick of getting return rail travel from Retford
for £11.00!

I'll try next time - can I suggest though the pub is the Bree Louise by
Euston as it's a proper real ale (rail ale) pub and I get a beer
discount as a CAMRA member...

Feel free to suggest a future event and location.

As Paul was the only person so suggest anything as I remember, the
location was in his gift and was acceptable to those who bothered to
attend.

I see someone else has triggered the "where do we have the next one"
debate so I shall now sit back and retire to the benches. Someone else
can have the "cat herding" mantle.

Unless people want to have another one sooner, the first day of the ELLE
might be a good time to have one, although the drawback is that the exact
day may not be known until, well, the exact day.

As the Doric Arch is a Fullers pub the ale there is real too, though the
choice got a bit limited last night after the London Pride and Timothy
Taylor's ran out.

Of course not. He/she was the subject of much conversation, though.

Did he really turn up? If so, I am disappointed to have missed him.

No I didn't so I'm not sure what the OP was smoking when he wrote that.
I've got better things to do that meet a bunch of strangers in a pub to
talk about transport.
