We come from a family who used to live in Edmonton. Before WW2 we had a butchers shop on the Green. Then the area was of true North Londoners - salt of the earth. Our family lived though the blitz and fought for this country.

Now the whole area has become invaded with sink estate migrants. Thugs and scum from the lower classes - likely living on benefits 'cos no-one will give any of them a job.

Our aunt - now in her late 90s - says that "its not our country any more." She's damned right. And so was Enoch Powell.

Perhaps I'm obtuse and simply missing the point. What has this incident to do
with your general dismay with how Edmonton has changed? As you cite Enoch
Powell, I assume you are concerned about immigration. The links you provide
do not indicate that immigrants or their offspring were involved. The links do
suggest the thuggery started long before the train reached Edmonton so
it can hardly be used to typify how Edmonton has changed since 1945.

Indeed, the arrested man was from Mile End. The incident must have been
very scary for the other passengers, but at least the thugs seem to have
confined their violence to each other (and the train).
