Default Oyster pay as you go and Senior Railcard

Email from "National Rail" today 14 Dec '09

Dear Railcard holder

We have some exciting news for you – from 2 January 2010 Oyster pay as
you go
fares are being introduced on National Rail services in Greater London
and you
will be able to use your Senior Railcard to get discounts with an
Oyster card.
The discount will be available on the off-peak pay as you go fares.

From this date, Oyster pay as you go will be the cheapest way to pay
for your
off-peak journeys, as it will replace the Off-Peak Day cash fare, so to
make the
most of your Railcard in Greater London, you need to have an Oyster
card
registered with your Railcard details: you can do this at all Tube and
London
Overground and some National Rail ticket offices.

Please note that Peak pay as you go fares will apply between 4pm and
7pm,
Monday to Friday and the Railcard discount will not apply at this time.
If you
are only making a single journey during peak times it is generally
cheaper to
buy a discounted cash fare. However, the Off Peak Day Travelcard cap
still
applies and journeys made during this time will count towards the daily
cap, so
if you are making multiple journeys throughout the day, you will still
benefit

If you are travelling within Greater London during these peak times,
it's best
to check the fare options for your journey before you travel.

I don't think many Railcard holders are going to grok this since it
contains just the dual use of "peak" which caused the confusion here.

++your off-peak journeys++

**Peak pay as you go fares will apply between 4pm and 7pm,
Monday to Friday**

==However, the Off Peak Day Travelcard cap still applies {to all
journeys after 0930}==

Not *very* exciting, though. At least IMO.
