The Evergreen 3 project investment has been approved by DfT Rail, but that in no way negates the need to follow the normal planning process. For info, I believe the application under discussion can be found on London Borough of Hillingdon's planning webpage by searching for planning application reference 66712/APP/2010/103 http://www.hillingdon.gov.uk/index.jsp?articleid=10058 Its location is Northolt Junction Civic Way Ruislip and it proposes "Track and junction improvements involving widening the existing up line embankment for 1.2km; stabilising the existing embankment; laying a second track South of existing up main line; provision of new junctions; replacing the existing single track bridge over Civic Way with a double track bridge; infilling redundant under bridge and ancillary works." Documents including a planning statement and plans are included with the application. Cross-posted to uk.transport.london. Kind regards, Dominic |

This procedure has been superseded by the Transport and Works Act, but is still a slow process, more appropriate for more major work, such as the Thameslink Project. Local authority planning permission should be much quicker. One piece of railway which was authorised by local authority planning permission was the Penmanshiel diversion following the tunnel collapse. Peter Cross-posted to uk.transport.london. Page 5 of the attached provides diagrams of the current and proposed layouts: http://w09.hillingdon.gov.uk/images/..._103/016_4.pdf This states that HS2 will not go through Northolt Junction. But it is planned for the almost disused line that heads straight from Old Oak to Northolt Junction, and under which the dive-under dives. So where does HS2 deviate if it really doesn't go to Northolt Junction? It doesn't. It says that high-speed trains will not run on the Chiltern route. But it is planned for the almost disused line that heads straight from Old Oak to Northolt Junction, and under which the dive-under dives. Well, if it happens, and if it happens on that route - no doubt somebody will think about what to do. But let's not blight Evergreen 3 with any talk of HS2. Regards Jonathan |

Regards Jonathan Certainly the current HS2 mapping doesn't take account of Chiltern's existing three lines at West Ruislip and the proposed three lines at South Ruislip. However it makes it clear that the exact route through Northolt / Ruislip needs further development and that HS2 will take into account Chiltern's Evergreen 3 aspirations. |

It's so very nice of a non-existent, pie-in-the-sky, unaffordable HS2 to "take into account" the very real Evergreen 3 scheme. It is HS2 which has the "aspirations", not Chiltern Railways. |
