Thanks. The plans for the Millennium exhibition included a cable car
from the Dome to East India Station, so I'll believe this when I see it.

The previous BBC article, which was linked to further up the thread,
suggested that the cable car was some kind of substitute for the dual
three-lane road bridge that was originally planned. Good to see Ken
Livingstone quoted in this article, making the argument that the road
bridge is what is needed.

By all means have the cable car as well, but not instead of the road.

As I recall he was always in favour of a new crossing between
Silvertown and the Greenwich Peninsula and did indeed argue the case
for it - but any such thing would have needed very substantial support
from central government. Just because Livingstone was Labour (after he
wasn't for a little bit) and the government was Labour, your supposed
notion that they were signing from the very same hymn sheet is rather
ludicrous.
