Default ELL to Highbury....

Surprised it's not been posted on here already (though I doubt there's
anyone who doesn't actually know....) but the ELL is due to start running
fully to Highbury and Islington from this Sunday.

(though slightly surprised that this dude who writes the bbc mind-the-gap
blog needed to be told that the orbital route requires a change at H&I)

There was informed speculation (which had been relayed on here) that
just such a thing was going to happen, but no confirmation - so this
appears to be confirmation of that (he is a proper journo so I'd think
he's got some sort of inside source for this, i.e. above and beyond
the chit-chat on various internet fora - though as you go on to
say...).

Indeed.

Anyhow, obvious point, but this'll further enhance the utility of the
ELL and allow the line to really come into its own - though thus far,
despite the missing link 'around the corner' at Dalston, patronage
seems to have grown fairly well.

I think it starts on Monday. Then I'll be able to get to Highbury
sharpish and not get on the Victoria Line in the rush hour as usual. And
Highbury is a poor station, sadly.

It's not well designed for Overground/Underground interchange, because
the Victoria line was cheap. I've never had any problem getting on the
Vic on the peak, though - IMX there are always a fair number of people
changing for Moorgate...

Meanwhile the NR journey planner shows a full service to Highbury from
start of traffic on 28/2!

It has done for quite a while, I mentioned back on the 4th Feb that NREs
had the service starting on the 27th - so they've already fixed it once...
