You always had to touch-in if travelling beyond the zones covered by your Travelcard to somewhere else in PAYG-land, so there's no change there - the only thing that's changed is that you're no longer required to obtain an OEP before starting such a journey (though loads of people never bothered with that anyway). In fact, going by a strict reading of the rules (TfL Conditions of Carriage and Oyster conditions of use on NR services), one should always touch-in and touch-out regardless, even if one is using a Travelcard on Oyster for a journey wholly within the zones covered by that Travelcard. |
