From the LOTS news page:

Route 38 was first introduced on 16th June 1912, events to celebrate
its Centenary can be found on www.arrivalondon.com. In particular, a
'Walk the 38' proposal is to support Maggie's, the cancer charity. A
'mini' running day on the 38 is planned for Sunday 17th June, using
three of Arriva's 'Heritage Fleet' Routemasters plus a small number of
invited guest vehicles. Further details below.

Though I can't see any mention of the promised 'further details' on that
page. However, on the Arriva London website there's a section about a
"Walk the 38" charity walk initiative, which also contains some info:

As part of this celebration, Arriva London also plans to have a running
day, probably on 17th June, where at least two of the Arriva Heritage
Fleet buses, RMC 1464 and RML 901, will run on Route 38. Replica models
of these two vehicles are being produced and will go on sale through the
Arriva London and Heritage Fleet web sites sometime in May.

Other events are still in the planning stage, and will be posted here as
they are finalised. For more information, please watch this space.

That page is dated 20 April.

They have been running the new Borismasters on trial for a few months
now, though there is no information on how long the trials are to last
or what they stipulate.

I'm sure others here know more than I do.

Nonetheless, pictures and other information are available he

When I first moved to Leyton the 38 ran through to Leyton Green bus depot.
I wish it still did. They had Routemasters in those days too. Travelling by bus then
was quite quick: the roads hadn't been ruined and the buses had conductors
selling tickets so there was no hanging about at bus stops. I feel a bit sorry
for today's bus passengers. Their bus journeys take so long!
