Default Brickbats and Bouquets

Rail Magazine in its feature on the rear page "Stop & Examine" feature
has reintroduced the Brickbats and Bouquets section. So what are
you're B&Bs? I have just emailed them the following:

Bouquet: Network Rail at Paddington Station for putting up large no
smoking signs and a red demarcation line at the main entrance. They
have even painted large no smoking signs on the pavement beside the
side entrance to the Hilton Hotel. And they have staff patrolling this
area to stop smokers blocking the way for non-smoking passengers
arriving or leaving the Station. Unfortunately many smokers are not
taking much notice yet..

Brickbat: Heathrow Connect for all too frequently dumping passengers
at Hayes & Harlington Station.when they have paid to go to Heathrow
Airport Then they are kicked out of the train (usually on the bay
platform 5) and told to catch a 140 or 350 bus. However when the buses
arrive the drivers wont accept their HConn tickets and the passengers
then have to pay an extra`£2.30 each for the bus.

I don't often have anything good to say about Virgin, but their
booking office staff at Euston dealt with me very efficiently on
Saturday, and I was buying a London Midland ticket, so I wouldn't even
be using their trains. The old office area, under the strange ceiling
has been opened up, lots of positions open and a single-queueing
system meant hat I was dealt with within about a minute, and there
were a large number of self-service machines as well, though I
couldn't use these for my ticket. Top marks.

I've been to London for business meetings and told myself that I'd be back to see London for myself. (rather than flying one day and out the next) I've used the tube briefly and my questions a Stuart Teo London Transport 4 January 30th 04 03:57 PM
