Unlike with the A stock, with its deeply cushioned transverse seats and luggage racks, there's really no downsides for pax with the S replacing the C stock. The new trains are air-conditioned, longer and have through gangways. About the only snag is for people like us who now have to read the destination signs to know if it's a Wimbleware or City train (etc), rather than simply recognising A, C or D stock and knowing which line it's on. |

Even sooner than I was told then! Is that a Wimbleware working? I think that's the only route they've been on for the last few months. I vaguely thought so but haven't been in London on the tube much recently so thought it best to check. It was my first visit to Putney since late 2012. I see the train I took both from Wimbledon to Wimbledon Park at 14:15 and from Wimbledon Park to East Putney was 072. It had done a complete trip via Edgware Road and Wimbledon while I was visiting my aunt for over an hour. According to WTT 145 it wasn't quite running to timetable as I should have left Wimbledon at 14:08 and it arrived at Wimbledon Park the second time at 15:31:40 (timestamp of photo taken of it arriving in the platform). -- Colin Rosenstiel |

I thought Hounslow was asking when the final D stock run will be. Well it's not at all clear to me what was being asked in the light of the comments about D stock. D stock hasn't even been mentioned in the context of stock withdrawals in the very near future. The simplest answer re C Stock is "already stated. For D Stock last day in service my answer is "haven't a clue". ;-) Presumably Bombardier will continue building S7s without a break, now that the C stock has all been replaced? If so, then the D stock will soon start to leave. Of course, the depots aren't ready yet, which may cause a delay. |

That's a bit fatal. You'll have to drive to Cambridge then and park in Rustat Road or somewhere like that. The first LST train from Cambridge seems to be the 0732-0843; I'm not going to bet on the 0832 being on time and me getting to Moorgate in 12 minutes! Although maybe bailing out at Tottenham Hale would work, if everything is running OK. There's a connection off the 0751 to Stratford with connection arriving LST at 0931, including the Tottenham option. Trouble with that is poor connections to Moorgate from the Victoria Line. That gives an extra 12 minutes for the Liverpool St-Moorgate connection. TfL's journey planner says it only takes 6 minutes walking and 1 minute by (frequent) train. To KGX there's the 0728-0829, with the next useful train being the 0828-0928. I'll have to see how brave I'm feeling on the day, but a combination of Sunday plus quite probably some engineering works (RTT says most of the LGX trains that day are on a special timetable) means I'll probably be on the 0732. How long to get to Moorgate from KGX, though? You might as well get the 0751 and change at Tottenham Hale. If the connection Stansted Express is cancelled you've still got the 0832 to fall back onto. I suppose the 0732 is the safest option, though. The initial rush for tickets seems to have died down with just over 50 left now (75% sold). I've bought one. -- Colin Rosenstiel |

Is that all the stock is cleared for now? A trip to Olympia and back would have been neat. It looks as if all those routes will be covered plus West Ham siding (why twice?). And why four passes over the northern Circle, and only one the southern? To even it up, the first leg should really have gone via Tower Hill clockwise to Wimbledon, even that was never an official end-to-end route (but neither is Wimbledon to Barking via Kings Cross). I agree about Olympia. I assume that might be possible if there weren't two trips to West Ham siding. The multiple passes are a result of running over the different routes which rather multiple at Edgware Road. -- Colin Rosenstiel |
