or so I was told by the driver at Wimbledon yesterday afternoon. I've got a
few pictures of the last of the old order I'll try and put on the web if I
can work out where.

There is a farewell tour planned for June 29th
http://www.ltmuseum.co.uk/whats-on/e...hicles-outings

Tickets priced £40 will be on sale from 2 June

Departing from Moorgate, this official last C stock tour covers its former
territory, including the Hammersmith & City, Circle and District Lines
and finishes at Hammersmith. Passengers will have the opportunity to
visit the London Transport Museum pop-up shop at Barking Station during
the lunch stop over.

For the passenger, the S stock is so good in comparison that I don't
think the C stock will really be missed.

Yes, and the C stock has been allowed to get quite shabby, so that won't
help. Unlike with the A stock, with its deeply cushioned transverse seats
and luggage racks, there's really no downsides for pax with the S replacing
the C stock. The new trains are air-conditioned, longer and have through
gangways.

About the only snag is for people like us who now have to read the
destination signs to know if it's a Wimbleware or City train (etc), rather
than simply recognising A, C or D stock and knowing which line it's on.

I understand the last trains run next week as 4 units go for scrapping
then. Last day looks like Monday 3 June 2014. Running number 074 is
apparently scheduled for C stock until 1339 (lunchtime).

Thanks for the good news. Personally I shall be glad to see the last

I won't... I used to quite enjoy the challenge of driving them.

How so? I would be interested to hear.
