Presumably they could only have pocketed cash, not credit card charges. The story refers to 'fake' Oyster cards, but they weren't fake - it seems they just never allocated the money coming over the counter into the POS system. Possibly they did the same with the rail tickets they issued. I can't see how they didn't think a discrepancy would arise and eventually get flagged up (particularly with the Oyster monies). |
