I can kind of see their point. Would you really want to switch to having
to
squeeze onto a tube train in the rush hour when up until now you've been
used
to mainline sized trains?

you really think there's that much of a difference?

Yes. Tube trains are cramped and have a hard ride due to the limited
suspension travel. Track defects that would barely be noticable in a mainline
train are painfully obvious in a tube train.

I'd lay money on the actual old kent road station ending up in the
middle of the 2 proposals if this extension ever gets built.

but was taken out because Bromley didn't support it (actively
discouraged it)

And there will be more of them (per hour) so more room for all the
people at the outlying stations

Also tube trains arn't fast and the journey could end
up taking somewhat longer.

The services are already "all stops" so I can't see it being that
different

Indeed. Compare the 41-43 minutes off-peak for 14 1/2 miles from Hayes to
Charing Cross to 47 minutes for the 23.23 Km (14 1/2miles) from Harrow &
Wealdstone to Elephant & Castle. Hardly a big difference in running time for
more than double the effective frequency and reduced transfer times for most
passengers. 3 trains an hour from Harrow & Wealdstone are LO, connecting at
Queen's Park into a 20 trains an hour off-peak service.

Next week - Northern Line to Elstree ?

Already there, you can see the trains on Eastenders…

Can't, I don't watch it. ;-)

Likewise, although I used to watch it once. Got fed up because it just
seemed to be endless variations of the same stories. And have deserted
other soaps for the same reason.
