Dunno, but Meon services on the M27 amuses me. I wonder if anyone apart
from me knows where to look?

Every so often you hear something about them starting to build Meon

Knutsford services on the M6 used to be a good example. It was the best
place to get on and off the motorway for anyone living in that region of
Cheshire. Now it has token operated barriers to stop unauthorised
drivers from leaving the premises via the back door.

Just an idle thought you understand, and not that I would dream of
ever taking advantage, but is there anywhere on the web that publishes
the numeric codes for these barriers?

Those sort of guys?

Ah, so you've met Guisseppe too?

My, he does get around a lot.

Don't know about Winchester, but Watford Gap seems to have a fair
share of Spanish / Portugese assistants in the shop. Do Road Chef have
some sort of Youth employment programme / arrangement in place?

They're always seem extremely helpful and polite - (and that's not
meant to be some sort of patronising comment).

The M3 services are even worse - locals were promised that they could
use it as a motorway access (the nearest junction's a long way away) and
then later they restricted it.

Is this why the oddly-numbered Junction 4A was eventually opened just a
couple of miles away from Fleet?

Most do not allow access by normal drivers from
outside the motorway, but one presumes that
access must be available for staff in case any
live locally and wish to walk or cycle to work.
In most cases, such access seems to be available,
but is marked with a no-entry sign.

In the case of Clacket Lane clockwise services, anyone is allowed to access
via the local road (which not surprisigly is called Clacket Lane) so long as
they are booked into the hotel in the service station.

How does they manage that? The map shows the access road crossing
Clacket Lane on the level. Is the map wrong?

I don't know if
similar rules apply for the hotel at Scratchwood or any other services.

I've seen something similar somewhere on the M1 (Newport Pagnell, IIRC)
where the hotel was beyond the barrier, and they had to book in at the
service station in order to get through... except that the barrier
didn't actually work, so anyone could get through.
