Who can I complain to to ensure he loses
his job, or at the bery least is forced to ride
a bike for 50 miles arround London.

Anyone who drives a car will be delayed on a regular basis by cyclists. This
time the cyclist was delayed by the motor vehicle. It happens. Get over it.

A man's vehicle is a symbol of his manhood.
That's why my vehicle's the Piccadilly Line -
It's the size of a county and it comes every two and a half minutes

Interesting. In 14 years of driving I have never actually been delayed
by a cyclist. There have been occasions when I've had to wait until it
was safe to pass a cyclist, but after getting past it never takes long
to catch up with the next traffic jam.

OTOH, as a cyclist I have been delayed by motorists on a few thousand
occasions [1]. Usually only small delays, but very real delays nonetheless.

[1] Yes, really. At a rough estimate I have made about 4000 cycle
journeys at rush hour. Most of those journeys will have involved more
than one delay resulting from the congestion caused by motor vehicles.

Unfortunately the thought process of most drivers doesn't extend this far.
I'd say bikes cause far less delay to cars than any form of motorized
vehicle.

They're not so much worried about the delay, which they must know is
almost always temporary, as following the golden rule that all
cyclists must be instantly overtaken regardless of the circumstances.

If you are slotted into a long line of 20 mph traffic, where there is
no question of delaying anyone, they will still try to pass you even
though there is clearly no gap to pull into. Failure to do so would be
a violation of the golden rule.

Sadly, this also seems to apply at red lights. I've lost count of how many
times i've cycled up alongside a line of traffic at some lights and come
to rest a little way ahead of the stop line (i'm a sinner, i know), only
for the car next to me to rev up and move forward all of six inches to
draw level ...

ASL's all round, i say.

I downright refuse to stop before that green bit at the front of the lights
that meant for cyclists - I always stop on it! Why should the miserable,
pavement-pedallers have any more of the road than they already have? They've
got one lane, now they want two extra! When they pay road tax like we do,
then I might consider it!

Good point. It's important to get your money's worth from your road
tax.

It might be a downright refusal on your part, but it's not a very clever
one. When I'm cycling and I encounter cars that haven't stopped in the
correct place, I simply pass over the ASL and stop in front of them.

Why not just learn to drive your vehicle correctly, or do you get some kind
of flagilatory thrill from being tense and stressed?

There's been no road tax in this country for more than fifty years. I
don't know who you're paying it to, but you're being conned.

Humm, illegal, its a bike only advanced stop line, however a lot of
traffic lights now have extra loops under them and change much
quicker/for longer (the ones outside here do). Most POB students either
don't sit over them, or just ride through the red and onto the
pavements, so the traffic never gets enough time to move more than one
car at a time, great traffic planning that.

Niel.
