Does anyone know why the junk yard next

Is this related to East London Line extension?

I wouldn't have thought so, as, AFAIK, the southern extension hasn't
got funding as yet. And also, AFAIK, the track will just be extended
southbound alongside the existing railway lines; the northbound track
coming from Brockley will go through New Cross Gate then there'll be a
flyover across the railway to connect it to the existing tube line.

So no idea really why the junk yard is being cleared!

The extension to Peckham hasn't been funded, but the New Cross Gate link is
necessary for the Northern extension because otherwise the new depot at
Selhurst for all the extra trains would be unreachable.

John Rowlan is correct with his post. The south bound line will not
run adjacent to the Down Slow line from New Cross Gate, it will run on
it!
