Default Another Gatwick question ........

I'm going to be travelling to Gatwick Airport (0930 Flight) from Finchley
Central on Thursday and returning a week later.

I have a Zone 2-4 Travelcard and a YP, my girlfriend has a Zone 1-4
Travelcard and a YP. We were thinking of getting the first tube and using
the Thameslink from Kentish Town or Kings Cross Thameslink.

Are there special prices if you get a Thameslink only ticket ?

Any other advice on the journey would be aprreciated

Cheers

The prices are "special" compared to the rip-off price of tickets that
are valid on the Gatwick Express...

I don't believe there are Thameslink trains that stop at both Kentish
Town and Gatwick (although maybe the really early morning ones do), so
if you went that way you'd probably have to change at somewhere like
Kings Cross Thameslink anyway.

Your Travelcard is only really useful as far as Kentish Town (unless
you decide to take a convoluted route via Willesden Junction
instead...), but your girlfriend's should be as good as far as Norwood
Junction. However, I don't believe you can buy the Norwood Junction
(or "Boundary Zone 4") to Gatwick extension ticket from an LU ticket
office; you can't use YP railcards there either; so you'd be advised
to buy your tickets to Gatwick from an NR ticket office (I don't think
Kentish Town has one as it's an LU-owned station).

Cheers
