As has been said here repeatedly, using Oyster is not a sensible option

Repeating it does not make it any truer.

People not from London can stop complaining too.

I haven't been.

Londoners deserve cheaper fares, in fact we pay in part for the costs
of the Underground through our council tax so I'm perfectly happy to
no longer subsidise tourists and visitors

.... and other Londoners ...

who, for whatever reason, do not adopt Oyster.

That's fair enough. A discount is on offer to Oyster users. There's
nothing hidden about the offer. Those who want to take advantage of it
can do so. Those who don't want to needn't.

The problems are going to come when hoards of tourists
arrive.

As has been pointed out, if you are making more than two
single journeys, it is cheaper to buy the osyter card, stick
three quid on it and throw it away when you have finished.

Are these people that queue up at the ticket office going to
be told this or are they just going to be sold a ticket at
three quid a throw.

My guess is the latter, and then these hoards of tourists are
going to go back home and complain even louder, than they
already do, about what a rip off the London underground is.

I doubt they will come like that. In hordes maybe.

Surely the whole point of the £3 deposit is that it covers a potential

What gives you that idea?

The signs above prepay validators in various locations with "Prepay
