You'ld think so, wouldn't you, but no, the National Rail site does not
have details of season tickets. You can instead go to
http://www.swt-seasontickets.com/. You need to register for this site,
but it will give you season ticket prices for pretty much any journey.

I don't have a current fares book to hand, but I can tell the OP that
Reading to Paddington alone cost GBP 72.90 last year. So add about 4 per
cent, plus whatever the Travelcard add-on might be (I've never
understood how they're calculated).

That's for a 7 day season by the way. Multiply by 40 for an annual,
multiply by 3.84 for a monthly. You can have any length of validity
between a month and a year, with suitably tapered prices.

Meanwhile, let's see what the good people at u.t.l. can tell us.

Trainsfares always used to work, last used it a fortnight ago. It looks
completely screwed now though, no images etc, doesn't recognise logged
in user.

Konqueror allows you to click a link bu tsome get some strange 404
message from some minor web server -- "Internet Information Services
(IIS)"

Also says "If you cannot view this page please phone this number: 0870
010 1296", which is tempting if it wasn't a premium rate number.

I think the only monthly season that'll get the OP to Barbican is a
Reading - z1-6, at £338.00.

London Terminals costs £292.70 - will that allow the OP to go anywhere
other than Waterloo and Paddington whence the City might be walkable
(e.g. Cannon Street)? Doubt it, but can't quite face looking that one
up in the Routing Guide this morning...

iirc you can take a train to Waterloo, thence via Waterloo East to
London Bridge, all for the price of a "London Terminals" ticket.

Not true.

Mapped routes between Reading and London are WR, WV, WW and WX - none
of which include the line through Waterloo East. The only London
terminals you can use are Paddington or Waterloo - plus Olympia if you
count that as a terminal.

Hmm, I've just gone directly to the URL I originally quoted [1] (for
the Southern branded season ticket service), using Firefox, and it all
works fine.

of course just two frontends to the same system.

I've tried that one too but all I get is "HTTP Error 404"....

One of these days, someone will invent a system that allows computer
users all over the world to communicate with each other and share
information. Till then, I s'pose we're stuck with National Rail
