Dear All.

Does anyone know the aprox cost of a Black cab from Edgware Road/Praed
Street to Colindale?

Also I would need to catch it about 5.30am on a Sunday or Monday morning.
Any chance of finding one at this time?

Cheers

About £30.

Why don't you ring one of the radio cab firms? Either do this just
before you arrive, or if you've had no joy in the street after say, 15
minutes.

Calling a cab is one of the real joys of a mobile phone...

PS IIRC cab fares are double on Xmas Day...

From page 31 of the TfL Festive season travel leaflet, concerning black

Taxis:

"There is a £4 extra charge for journeys between 2000 on 24 December
and 0600 on 27 December and between 2000 on 31 December and 0600 on 2
January."

TfL's website has a "find a ride" service where you can get the
telephone numbers of local minicab companies (aka private hire
operators):
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/pco/findaride/

There's also a list of the phone numbers of all six of the capital's
radio taxi circuits - where you can book a black Taxi in advance:
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/pco/findaride/taxis.asp

Just to be clear - the £4 extra charge applies to black Taxis only as
their fares are regulated by the PCO. Minicab operators can set their
own rate, some have meters but others don't, so ask for an estimate and
if they don't have a meter agree a price before you set off.

If you are looking to travel early on Christmas morning then definitely
book ahead and do so ASAP. Minicabs will of course cost more than usual.
