We were joking at work about a case where a car bomb hadn't paid the
congestion charge, towed to a carpark miles away, and ended up blowing
up in a deserted car pound

There are plenty of routes to the west, for example:

West Carriage Drive (Hyde Park)
or Kensington Church Street
or Holland Road / Addison Road (A3220 West Cross Route)

"by an incident" (guns) recently, buses did divert off the Harrow Rd
via Ladbroke Grove and out North Pole Rd. The rest of traffic was left
to its own wits and not diverted into the Ken-zone leading to many bad

was poor: all diverted drivers were automatically ticketed and had to
fight for the supposed diversion exemption. Methinks it all sucks,
there's no official effort by the looks of it to cater for such

and local employment at the toll gates. I think I know which system I
prefer.
