All Metronet lines are now suspended, including parts of the Piccadilly
where it runs over such lines. |

Metronet maintain the track between Barons Court and Acton Town / South Ealing / Hanger Lane junction and Picc trains are still getting to the Heathrow branch. Oddly though there is no service on the Rayners Lane branch at all - I thought it was going to terminate at South Harrow instead. -- Paul C Admits to working for London Underground! |

Oddly though there is no service on the Rayners Lane branch at all - I thought it was going to terminate at South Harrow instead. The Piccadilly appeared to be running the Heathrow part of their emergency timetable this afternoon (trains at 5-minute intervals), which was disappointing, but perhaps caused by a signal failure at Arnos Grove and a one-under at Wood Green. As Paul says, there was said to be no service at all on the Uxbridge branch, though I think there may have been a few trains going to Rayners Lane. Going westbound at around 18:45, trains were blocking back from Acton Town to Ravenscourt Park, due to leisurely crew changes on every train. I was then told that they were running down the service and would close about 20:00. No credible reason was given for this action, and there is still nothing on the LU website about this at 20:03. Does anyone know why the Piccadilly is closing early, if indeed it is? -- Richard J. (to e-mail me, swap uk and yon in address) |

Does anyone know why the Piccadilly is closing early, if indeed it is? Probably because the RMT are invoking their threatened action about not running over Metronet tracks where there is no direct maintenance cover and refusing to obey any LU management instruction to continue running. I feared this would happen. The Picc Line has one of the highest proportions of RMT drivers on the network so it's no great surprise. If they were to run only on Tube Lines maintained tracks that would mean Heathrow - Northfields and Cockfosters - Hyde Park Corner only for the next three days. Even that may be impossible because of maintenance and crewing issues as the stock and crews would probably be imbalanced on the two isolated sections. -- Paul C Admits to working for London Underground! |

Trains still stopping at Theydon Bois at 18:05 I got an Epping train from White City at about 16:40 this evening. At several stations on the way (including Shepperd's Bush, Bethnal Green and Stratford) the station announcers were saying "This will be the last train stopping at all stations to Epping, please board this train if you want the Epping branch". Anyone know why it is considered safe for Chiltern to run over the Metronet maintained Amersham - Harrow section, but not safe for the Met to do the same? Peter Smyth |
