All Metronet lines are now suspended, including parts of the Piccadilly where it runs over such lines. Anyone know why it is considered safe for Chiltern to run over the Metronet maintained Amersham - Harrow section, but not safe for the Met to do the same? Presumably because Chiltern have enough non-RMT drivers to be able to run the Aylesbury via Amersham service. They also run over a non-Metronet route (the route via High Wycombe), so they can stick all the RMT drivers on that one. |

Also, AIUI there isn't a very high proportion of RMT drivers on National Rail compared to LUL - they're mostly ASLEF (I might be completely wrong on that - it's from memory rather than Sourced Fact). -- John Band john at johnband dot org www.johnband.org |

![]() Ho hum that's another option down the pan for tomorrow. Yet another will be Jubilee connections with Metropolitan... probably only the newer part is really safe. |

If they were to run only on Tube Lines maintained tracks that would mean Heathrow - Northfields and Cockfosters - Hyde Park Corner only for the next three days. Even that may be impossible because of maintenance and crewing issues as the stock and crews would probably be imbalanced on the two isolated sections. UPDATE at 20:22: Piccadilly Line now suspended Hyde Park Corner to Northfields/Uxbridge. That's the sort of thing I don't like being correct about. Ho hum that's another option down the pan for tomorrow. Suddenly I feel good about moving to an area where I have lots of ways of getting into town in case of RMT. |

Ho hum that's another option down the pan for tomorrow. This morning it's only suspended from Rayners Lane to Uxbridge. I gather LU staff did the necessary checks on the Metronet tracks west of Barons Court to enable the Picc to run through on that stretch from soon after 08:00. Good news. -- Richard J. Certainly something was done to get the tracks inspected and assured as safe to use. I agree good news even if I did have to wait for 10 trains and over 25 minutes to get on a train tonight - unreal! -- Paul C Admits to working for London Underground! |

I don't know what the situation is like now - but about twelve or fifteen years ago the Chiltern line was a-typical to the rest of the system, in that it had a very high proportion of RMT drivers (they might still have been NUR then), rather than ASLEF men. I recall happily travelling to and from work during one dispute, when most of the national network was at a standstill, due to "the wrong type of union". |
