From Long Acre, head east to junction of Bow Stre (mini roundabout)
turn right into Bow St. Carry on past Opera House and Tranpsort
Museum and do left into Tavistock St. Cross Catherine Street and
continue to Drury Lane. Turn left and head up Drury Lane to the
junction of Great Queen Street. Turn right towards Kingsway. You can
do a right onto Kingsway from GQS.
From a local resident who has to do this daily...

Click "shortest distance" on the left panel and then "get directions". I
think this route will always be quicker than going via Tavistock Street.

This map shows exactly what I said, including using Tavistock Street!

Whoops, forgot to press "shortest distance" but then it gives you a right
turn from Parker St into Newton St, which as the original poster said, is
not possible at the moment.
