Its December 2007; does anyone know why the Arcade at St Pancras isn't
finished yet?

Most likely the shopfitters couldn't start until the building work is
complete, and the builders were concentrating on the 'station' opening. I'm
sure there was a sign on the hoardings saying spring 2008 for opening when I
was there a couple of weeks ago...

The BBC mini series on St Pancras International showed that the station
was handed over on time for fitting out. However the fitting out
contractors were running many weeks behind schedule and only just got
the Eurostar part of the terminal ready for 14 November. As the station
is now operational there is much less flexibility and working time
available. While some units can be fitted out behind hoardings there may
be elements of the work that are now only possible during night
engineering hours.

The boss man in charge of getting the fit out complete and getting
retailers in to their outlets looked markedly ****ed off in all of the
screen shots where he featured. I imagine there will be threats of
claims for lost revenue whizzing back and forth.

They're opening the Arcade units on a progressive basis (therefore many
units should be fitted out before Spring 2008) - that way they'll
minimise visitor dissatisfaction and any compensation payments that the
retailers may be seeking. The Market may well be fitted out before the
Arcade (they're aiming towards a New Year opening for the Market
according to the official StP website), but IMO the Circle and Rendevouz
areas are even further behind - the brasserie won't open until Spring
2008, and they haven't even decided on a season for the completion of
the Circle (2008 is as much as they'll say for now). On the plus side,
the *second* M&S unit (i.e. the one in the Circle area) has its own bakery!

For anyone who happens to be rueing the absence of a First Class lounge
at StP (not many on this newsgroup I presume), that facility will be
made available in Spring 2008.

That, plus the main cash is paid over. No need for the fitters to get their
arse into gear.

Expect the final 'tweaks' to last months.

Where is the Market? I've been through there a couple of times and
can't work it out.

Under the PIS displays, on the south side of the domestic concourse/cross
passage, basically the entire wall opposite the domestic ticket office and
'The Circle' shopping area.
