Heard on the new tonight about some "personal transit" at heathrow -
self guided "pods". Not much detail online , the just usual the-future-
is-now guff with journalists still being amazed with something thats
"computer controlled". Anyone have any more details? Is it a good idea
or just a cheap naff alternative to putting in proper transport from
the carpark and will end up like the maglev at birmingham, replaced by
a bus?

That should have read expensive naff alternative! The system is
anything but cheap for what it is. £30 million I've read.

Under construction at T5. Google finds an article in todays Telegraph
suggesting wrongly the trial route will be from a perimeter car park to
Terminal 1, but also brings up a similar article in the Times back in May
suggested Terminal 5.

ISTR an extensive thread on uk.r about it ages ago. Google will reveal

March 2006.
