I am not sure what the original poster meant by spare D stock.

I think the idea is that all Wimbledon trains are C stock running to
Edgware Road and beyond, which I don't think the lines uses would be
happy about. That and the loss of most of the Circle pretty much kill
this proposal.

I guessed that might be the idea, replacing the Circle frequency from
HSK to Edgware Road, but beyond there, how would extra services fit
in: cut the Metropolitan at Baker Street?

What I just said made no sense, sorry.

I still don't think it's a goer.

I know there are probably loads of reasons why it wouldn't happen.
Does Baker Street-Liverpool St run at full capacity? There seem to be
longer gaps between trains there compared to the southern bit of the
Circle Line.
Presumably now there are more passengers travelling to Kings Cross-St
Pancras who would welcome a through service from Earls Court.

Has this ever been considered? Trains could run from
Barking/Whitechapel to Edgware Road and then on to either Hammersmith
or Wimbledon.

If memory serves me correct, a special Wimbledon-Edgware Road-Barking
service was run in the mid 1990s when Jubilee Line Extention work shut down
the southern side of the Circle. However it hasn't been adopted in more
recent years to provide a through service from Earl's Court to Aldgae East &
beyond in such circumstances - anyone know why?

Earl's Court with luggage isn't too disastrous. Aldgate East would be
no fun, however.

Maybe but it's a bit of a mess at the moment for people changing between
District Line branches - add in lots of people trying to change between the
two District islands and it could get much worse.
