Default quiet stations

Stratford has 2 or 3 platforms which are, AFAIAA, still open but have
lost all their regular timetabled trains. I'd expect they'll be pretty
quiet. Semi-derelict buildings etc. Can't remember the numbers but
they're the furthest ones across from the main entrance (ie opposite
side of the GE mainline from the Central line/DLR platforms).

so any suggestions? somewhere on a little-used oddity of a
branchline or even a disused station that can still be accessed, I
need tracks and platform not too overgrown.

Platform "0" at Southall. It's the disused face of the island platform
that includes Platform 1 on the down main Great Western. As trains pass
Platform 1 at 125 mph, it's not quiet sound-wise, but there are normally
no passengers on that island at any time of day or night as no trains
stop there. Platform 0 has the occasional freight train; the track is
in good condition and the platform mostly so. If you're interested, I
can send you some photos I took about a year ago.

that could be ideal, fast trains passing are no problem and could
actually be a bonus. Photos would be cool, email is markvarley at
gmail.com

For lots of background activity, but minimal direct interference,
there's always platform 1 at Clapham Junction (disused, island with
platform 2 with a short train every half hour, many busy platforms
beyond).

IME there's always several people waiting there though.

They're not quiet any more - there are new platforms for the North
London Line being constructed alongside them. In addition some of the
really derelict buildings have just been knocked down. Plus there is
an hourly service that uses one of the platforms. Possibly worth a
look nonetheless.

still worth a look as it's not far from me (Hackney).

Now I think of it, would there be many people waiting at platforms 16
and 17 after a certain hour? Could be better.

Ah, the number of trains I've been on recently where the PIS proudly
displays "Calling at all stations via Lewisham EXCEPT St Johns", as if
its neglect is something to be proud of... :-P

Ravensbourne can't be far off that list, either.

Or if you don't mind going a bit further out, go to Bletchley on a
Sunday and walk over to Fenny Stratford, which has no Sunday service
and therefore will be deserted. Bedford St John's would also work,
though it's an utter dive in comparison.

PS, I'm aware of the permissions system for photoshoots in such places
so no worries from that angle.

One station I know which has very little use, day or night is Bayford.
Hopefully not to far out for you either.

thats a distinct possibility actually as it's only 35 minutes from
high&is
do you happen to know if all the lights work on the platforms?

I am afraid that I have not been through there for a few weeks, but
they were working.
