Old-style road sign.
On Sunday I went to Crossness (Open House Day). From Coulsdon I took
the 405 to Croydon, then the 75 to Lewisham, then the 180 to just past Abbey Wood, then walked. Somewhere on the 180 route I'm sure I saw one of the old road signs, the cast iron rectangular type with the red triangle above. It must be decades since I've seen one of these; was I seeing things, or is there really one there? If so, where exactly is it, and why has it never been replaced by the new triangular type? |

There is another one at http://wikimapia.org/ #lat=51.4092165&lon=-0.2625507&z=19&l=0&m=s&v=2, a "school" sign facing southwards, beside but not on a lamppost. A birds'eye view from the South using http://maps.live.com/, shows it as a distince, but unreadable object. I saw it, directly by eye, earlier this-afternoon. -- (c) John Stockton, near London, UK.
