Can Chesham take 8 coach trains?

Kevin

It can take a full-length A stock. I don't have the measurements of A
stock and S8 stock to hand, but I am sure that an S8 will fit easily
in the platform; the starter signal is well beyond the platform edge
anyway so track circuits may not be a problem.

Yes: I believe it's the bay at Chalfont that can only take short trains.

The change is basically a loss of resilience for the Chesham punter,
at the moment if the met is broken they can get the Chiltern to
Chalfont & Latimer to get the shuttle, now if the Met is SNAFU so is
everyone living in Chesham....the next step closure?

If nothing was getting out of London, nothing would be sent into London: the
trains turned short would go to Amersham and Chesham alternately.

It already does - the current peak hour City through trains are 8

Presumabley that is why they are running the trains through to the city as
the S stock wont fit the bay platform.

It only has one platform these days though. At one time it could take an 8
car and a 4 car train at the same time.
