No worse than at Arnos grove where the shiny(ish) new indicators for the
northbound trains still display bugger all apart from "Piccadilly Line"
(presumably for people so stupid that even after buying a ticket and entering
the station they still don't know what line they're on) after having been
installed for about 2 years already.

Alternative reality Boltar rant from 2010: "at Arnos Grove they've
just removed and replaced the ceiling tiles at enormous expense to
install the wiring for new indicators. Why the hell didn't the idiots
do that when they refurbished the rest of the station three years
ago?"

If that really is the reason they don't work then I'll just cut and paste
that next year. Ta!

If they aren't going to be used for three years, they should perhaps have
removed a fuse or something.

AIUI they're removing (non-heritage) clocks from platform level with
immediate effect, because the new dot-matrixes have one built in, and
it'd be a bit rubbish to not have a clock at platform level.

Again, in a heavily H&S regulated environment where you can't just
unplug fixtures and stick some plastic padding in the screw-holes,
it's a lot easier to run the "install dot-matrix wiring, install dot-
matrix, remove clocks, de-activate clock wiring" project across all
refurbs, rather than sending in clock-removing electricians,
plasterers, etc when the screens are switched over.
