The logic with airlines is that people may be put off flying with Air XYZ
if they recall seeing pictures of an Air XYZ plane in pieces. It's not a
new habit: I recall them painting over the logos 50 years ago.

I somehow doubt though that people will think 'better not get on that C3
bus, it might overturn'.

Because most people seeing it on TV aren't ever going to see it at the
scene.

It's not just a logical thing. It also affects the irrational (and
even subconscious) parts of the mind - the mental association with the
image of the fallen bus triggers an emotional reaction.

before I passed nearby on my bike. There was no ice at all then.

Nice picture in yesterday's "Telegraph" even though it referred to the
location as Clapham!

And, the previous news reports referred to the "junction between
Plough Lane and St. John's Hill" when in fact the incident happened a
good few hundred yards away!
