Default Oyster prepay

Prepay seems to have been withdrawn as a payment option on underground
ticket machines. They are only offering cash or credit card as payment
options now.

Perhaps too many people were using it?

Technically oyster cards can be cashed in - and if they can also be used to
make payments perhaps a few people started to get worried that oyster cards
were becoming cash cards.

But you can buy tickets with real cash cards from the machines?

Perhaps the system was being abused? Were you still able to buy
tickets with prepay credit even if you had unresolved journeys on
your Oyster?

My point is that Oyster can be used instead of cash cards - meaning that
banks dont get interest and have no control over it etc. I suppose the Bank
of England might have a thing or two to say about it as well.

Any form of electronic cash when used in a widespread environment involves a
significant amount of financial politics - I just tried to point it out,
doesn't neccesarily mean I understand it :-)

Yes if you mean Switch type ATM cards. You can also use credit cards.

Aah... Why does everything have to be so complex? I should be glad that
SPT's technological limit is having a little LED clock at one station on
the subway (Govan) for drivers to time their departure. Even paddle-style
doors aren't used, we've got the good old fashioned 3-prong turnstyles.
