There is a bus [coach] station at ground level in the South Terminal. It
is very clearly signed.

Around £6 single to central London (about half the cost of the train).

You've been a bit vague.

Where are you coming from? What mode of transport are you using to get
to London? What region of London will you be arriving at? What time of
day?

No doubt once you've answred that, Mr. Corfield will type in about
fifty different bus routes and at least three different tube/NR routes
to get you to Gatwick ;-)

In that case your best bet is to take a South Central service from
Gatwick rail station to Victoria. Once at Victoria, follow the signs to
the London Underground and take a northbound Victoria Line train to
Oxford Circus. Get off at Oxford Circus and switch to a northbound
Bakerloo Line train to Marylebone. The exit from the Tube station is on
the National Rail concourse; turn right and you should see the exit.

He did ask for the cheapest though - which is the coach at £6 single
(£10 single for Southern train). Then walk up the road to catch a bus
from outside Victoria railway station; number 2 towards Baker Street, or
number 82 towards North Finchley; they both drop off on Gloucester Place
in the heart of Marylebone.
