Default TPWS & LUL resignalling

In the year dot Westinghouse are going to resignal the SSL lines and
introduce ATP. What will happen to places like the Richmond branch which are
owned by national rail. Will the new trains have to be fitted with TPWS to
run? I believe it is not a issue at the moment because of tripcocks are
fitted everywhere but presumably they will go with the new infastructure.

Any ATP system will provide a trainstop function, which means that TPWS
will not be required.

Compare the Tyne & Wear Metro, which doesn't have TPWS either.

While 'any ATP system' will indeed provide a trainstop function, will
Network Rail fit their signalling systems with another form of train
protection to enable compatibility with S Stock? I doubt it.

What will probably happen is either the new trains will have both
tripcocks ATP, with the NR signalling remaining as it is at present, or
NR will insist the new trains meet their standards and be dual fitted
with Westinghouse ATP antennae and TPWS.
