Couldn't miss it here in Richmond - quiet it is NOT, despite the
claims.

Stood underneath it as it came in at Heathrow - must have been
around 100 people there for it (just where I was)

It seemed to do quite a bit of rolling and pitching, from the
BBC web-clip. Was it exceptioonally windy?

Not exceptionally windy, but quite a gusty crosswind. At 13:00 it was
south-westerly 18 knots gusting to 31 knots. Later in the afternoon
when I saw other planes using the same runway, it was 22 knots gusting
to 35, and some of the approaches were quite interesting.

Interesting, that's the first adverse comment on its noise that I've
seen. Most people have said how quiet it was, relative to its size I
assume. (Personally, I was too busy taking photos to notice.) How did
it compare with the two British Airways 747s that used the same runway
in the previous 20 minutes?

Probably about the same as a 747 I would have said - I was expecting it
to be significantly quieter. But the strongly gusting cross-winds may
have caused a problematic approach. As you mentioned, there were some
"interesting" approaches to Heathrow yesterday afternoon - almost
crab-like in some cases - I was in the garden trying to retrieve the
roof that had blown off my bike shed

Have you been out of doors today?

It is rather gusty. It strikes me you are but 4.5 miles from Heathrow,
so weather conditions can't be too different.

Yes, it was very windy about 7 am, and raining when I walked to
work at 7:30. Later we had several very heavy thundershowers. The
weather in Geneva is not a reliable indication of that at LHR, though...
